Flykrav

Your rights as an air passenger

EU Regulation 261/2004 gives you strong rights when something goes wrong with your flight. Here's what you need to know.

When are you entitled to compensation?

Delay

You are entitled to compensation if you arrive at your final destination more than 3 hours late.

Cancellation

You are entitled to compensation if your flight was cancelled with less than 14 days notice.

Denied boarding

You are entitled to compensation if you were denied boarding against your will, for example due to overbooking.

Compensation amounts

Under 1,500 km€250 per person
Between 1,500 and 3,500 km€400 per person
Over 3,500 km€600 per person

The amount may be reduced by 50% if the airline offers rerouting and you arrive within a reasonable time.

Which flights are covered?

All flights departing from an airport in the EU/EEA
Flights to the EU/EEA operated by an EU/EEA carrier
Norway is part of the EEA — Norwegian passengers are fully covered
Flights from outside the EU/EEA on a non-European carrier

When are you NOT entitled to compensation?

Airlines are not required to pay if the delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances such as:

  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Political instability
  • Hidden manufacturing defects
  • Air traffic control strikes (not the airline's own staff)

Note: Airlines frequently use this exception unjustly. We know how to challenge it.

How long do you have?

In Norway the limitation period is 3 years from the flight date. Don't wait too long. Check your claim today.
