Flykrav

Frequently asked questions about flight compensation

How long does the process take?

Most airlines have 4–8 weeks to respond. If they don't respond or reject the claim unjustly, we escalate further. The full process usually takes 2–4 months, but can take longer for complex cases.

What do I need to get started?

Not much at all. Your flight date, route and email address are enough to begin. We'll handle the rest.

What if the airline rejects the claim?

We escalate to the relevant enforcement authority, such as the Civil Aviation Authority in Norway or the equivalent body in the relevant country. You don't need to do anything.

Does this only apply to EU airlines?

No. The regulation applies to all flights departing from an airport in the EU/EEA, regardless of airline. It also applies to flights into the EU/EEA on European carriers.

What if my flight was cancelled due to illness or an outbreak?

Disease outbreaks may qualify as extraordinary circumstances in some cases, but not automatically. It depends on whether the airline can show the cancellation was truly unavoidable. We assess each case individually.

Can I claim for past flights?

Yes. In Norway the limitation period is 3 years. You can claim for flights going back to 2023.

What are extraordinary circumstances?

These are events outside the airline's control, such as extreme weather or political unrest. Airlines invoke this more often than is justified. We always assess whether the exception is valid in your case.

How do I receive the money?

Some airlines pay compensation directly to you; in that case we invoice you for our 30% afterwards. In other cases the airline pays Flykrav directly, and we transfer your share (70%) to you. No hidden fees either way.

Is it safe to submit my information?

Yes. We handle all personal data in accordance with GDPR and Norwegian privacy legislation.
